Stopping by for some smoked salmon

I think this is a buzzard (still working on my bird recognition) which has stopped in on the washing line which is between the lodge and our cottage.

Fieldfare stopping in to taste some smoked fish!

So great to see migrating birds at this time of year stopping in at the smokehouse.

In folklore seeing a Fieldfare is meant to predict it's about to get a lot colder.....hopefully not too cold!

Kite flying in the Hebrides

One of the lodge guests use a short break in the clouds on a very windy day to do some kite flying. I think this photo is very 50 shades of grey?

Smoked salmon is now on sale in Selfridges

Our smoked salmon is standing out in Selfridges. Really pleased with the new packaging. Thanks to TIm Worsley and his team at Big Helping for the new packaging design.  The turqouise colour really is the colour of the sea up here some days.

Number 1 smoked salmon producer......

Arthur and his new favourite toy - just like Daddy. (Only that is much bigger than any fish Daddy has caught this year)

Enjoying a Sunday at the top of Loch Suainabhal. This was before the rain arrived.

Salmon fishing season has finished....

A visiting swan (migrating) and a resident heron (I think!). Finding it hard to concentrate in the office with all the nature out the window....

Smoked salmon customers - I wonder?

Love having all this wildlife right outside the smokery, although it can be distracting with so much to look at.

Beautiful evening today

We feel so lucky this time of year to get some amazing sunsets. The light can be incredible, although we also notice the shorter days!

Arthur having a golf lesson pre-nursery this morning

Dickon and Arthur playing golf this morning, didn't make it down onto the golf course but maybe in a few years he'll be able to play properly with Daddy.... and now back to slicing sides of salmon for the christmas rush.

Photography workshop weeks in 2015

Just practising with my camera this morning, it was my christmas present last year but I still don't know how to use it properly and only ever use one setting, the green 'AUTO' setting.

Hopefully I can join onto our photography weeks next year and learn how to use it properly. In the meantime I guess you can't go too wrong when the scenery is so beautiful.

This picture was taken from outside the salmon smokehouse this morning.

The reward for those in early slicing salmon and packing orders in the smokehouse

This time of year we feel so lucky to get beautiful light.... on the days when it's not raining and blowing a hoolie! Smoked salmon orders starting to roll in for Christmas, feels like the calm before the storm.
